Yes, there is a decklist.
Vega submitting an article got me in the mood to write one myself. I have been planning to do so for a while, but have had so much other stuff to do between school, work, developing a game and maintaining a social life, that it has been put on the backburner.
Originally, I had this article titled : Zendkiar Landfall - I Seriously Think Mythic Rares are Killing Magic. But lets be honest, it is going to take much more to kill magic. I do think that priniting powerfull mythic rares and printing an amount of cards less that than demand will hinder the growth of magic. Its an issue of fairness. As I submit this article, Star City Games is selling Baneslayer Angel for $34.99 and Lotus Cobra for $29.99 and they are SOLD OUT. To compete, you need to be able to get cards and this is more rediculous than Tarmogoyf, as you could get those at rare and there was only one. Many people are pairing together the pricey mythics as one begets the other very quickly.
Here is the deck I would bring to battle with at the next standard tournament:
BGW Landfall
3 Ob Nixilis, the Fallen
4 Baneslayer Angel
4 Bloodghast
4 Putrid Leech
4 Lotus Cobra
4 Harrow
4 Maelstrom Pulse
4 Path to Exile
3 Infest
4 Verdant Catacombs
4 Marsh Flats
4 Terramorphic Expanse
4 Plains
5 Forest
5 Swamp
Sideboard
1 Infest
2 Day of Judgment
4 River Boa
4 Bloodchief Ascension
4 Great Stable Stag
The sideboard is iffy. I am not sure how good River Boa will be its third (fourth if you count its mire counterpart) time around. However, regeneration seems to matter more and more these days and it is a pretty good combo with Day of Judgment (and a nonbo with the Infest). When they play blue, if you drop this guy turn 2 and Great Stable Stag turn 3, they are done. Right now I don’t see a lot of blue decks floating around, but I plan to see something abuse archive trap as the format evolves. However, the Boa and Great Stable Stag are pretty much awesome against mono black. The Infest are there for the Vampire, Sligh and Soldier decks I have seen running around the internet and expect to see in the metagame. Bloodchief Ascension is just nuts against red decks, and spell heavy control decks.
The maindeck consist of lots of good stuff that works well together. It can pump out turn 3 Baneslayer Angel followed by turn 4 Ob Nixilis plus Harrow. That is sick. The best part is that your deck is still good if you don’t draw Lotus Cobra. This deck just brings the beats and kills off anything in the way and has such late game potential as well in its two 5-mana finishers. You just bring the beats, abuse landfall and kill stuff. You are pretty kold to counter magia, but it is not looking too hot right now plus you have stuff post sideboard just in case that guy shows up.
The worst part of this deck is that I won’t be playing it any time soon since it will run you $691.43 at Star City Games Prices courtesy of Wizards of the Coast making Baneslayer Angel and Lotus Cobra mythic rares. I think this is a record breaker for Standard deck prices since Unlimited rotated out. Tarmogoyf got nothing on mythic rares.
Soon I should have some lists together for Mono Black Vampires, Mono Red Aggro, Mono White Soldiers and Blue Based Mill and a Bloodchief Ascension Jund Cascade deck. Apparently you are either playing a landfall deck, a mono-colored deck or cascade. Honestly, I don’t see myself playing standard for a while, but to those who do: have fun stomping with this deck.
